Break through the English plateau
How do you know you're stuck and what can you do to break through?

You're stuck if
you're still making the same mistakes over and over again
you still cannot use language spontaneously
you're still avoiding interactions in English
At this stage you might feel frustrated and a bit discouraged.
You might even start blaming the lack of time or talent. The truth is that neither more time nor talent alone can get you unstuck.
What can get you unstuck?
1. Clarity
You need to clearly identify what is holding you back or slowing you down.
Is it pronunciation?
Is it sentence structure?
Is it not knowing how to use the language you know in conversations?
Are your limiting thoughts "I'm not good at English", "I'll never be fluent", "I'm too old to get fluent" ?
2. Knowing how to train
Listening, watching and reading are all valid but passive activities. They will not make an impact on your ability to interact spontaneously in real-life situations if you do not follow them up with active training.
Active training refers to intentional out loud practice.
Your practice should be intentional: you consciously need to create opportunities for yourself to use what you know: apply the new vocabulary and grammar structures. As you go about your day you should constantly ask yourself "How woudl I say this in English?", "Could I use this phrasal verb in this case?" .
3. Setting up a Flexible Routine
Once you know what you need to improve on and how to do it, you need to stay consistent in your practice and set up a training routine that is flexible and fits your daily schedule.
That being said, staying motivated and consistent is not easy when you've got a full time job. The easiest and most effective way to get unstuck and therefore see tangible progress is to have a personal coach, one that takes you through the whole process in a smooth, efficient and effective way.
